Employee spotlight

1. How did you get into the staffing industry?

To be very honest, it was completely by chance. I had been working in retail for several years, as a training manager. I applied to a receptionist position for a law firm and came into the office to meet with Amy. During our meeting, she informed me that this position was probably not going to pay close to what I was looking for. However, she had a position available within her company as a recruiter. I did not know much about the legal recruiting industry, but was intrigued. Shortly, after meeting with Amy, I was offered and accepted the position.

2. What three words describe AGA Legal Staffing?

Integrity, honesty and truly caring.

3. What does your job entail?

I am responsible for sourcing and recruiting new candidates for the various roles we have available. I meet with them, interview, and question them on their background and discuss viable opportunities with them. Additionally, I have several clients I represent, always trying to build and maintain relationships and gaining more prospective openings. I work alongside an amazing team, trying to always continue my growth as a recruiter and helping build my team.

4. What aspect of your role do you enjoy the most?

The opportunity of meeting someone and helping change their career, possibly even their life, for the better. I love being able to help others. And, we have this chance every single day. I am very grateful for that.

5. What are the toughest challenges you’ve had at work?

When I began in the legal staffing field, I did not know anything about legal terminology, industry standards, how a law firm is run, etc. and had only focused on the recruiting aspect. Although, I was responsible for sourcing, hiring, and training staff at my previous role, this was completely new to me. I completely and, blindly, trusted to teach me everything to be successful in this role. It was a bit of a gamble, but the very best one I ever made. After learning the terminology and procedures, I immediately fell in love with what I was able to do.

6. What is the best career lesson you learned?

Never stop believing and trusting in yourself. Even when it was a lot to learn, a completely new environment, I always pushed myself to succeed and believed in myself. Of course, it made it a lot easier, to have such an incredible leader, teacher, and cheerleader in my corner (Amy), who over the years became more and more of a friend and I now consider a part of my family.

7. Three traits that describe you?

Honest, loyal, and hard working.

8. What do you like to do on your days off?

I love to spend time with my dogs, family, and friends. I like to be active and enjoy the gym and any outside activities, such as volleyball, swimming, hiking, and kayaking. Over the years, I became extremely passionate and interested in learning more about how we can help and maintain our oceans. I love to be near or in the water, clean the beaches and educate myself on marine and ocean life.

9. Do you have a favorite place in the world?

The beach and ocean.

10. What's one thing you can't live without?

My dogs, my family, and the sun!
